I also found that, because it has a single, uninterrupted hoop of metal, it can be safely microwaved.
(Metal in a microwave? Perfectly safe, as long as there is not a junction between two separate pieces: that's when arcing occurs. Sure, the metal reduces the effectiveness of the microwave, but not enough in this case to make a difference.) By the time I lost mine, I'd come to hate it, for the simple reason that the base is too, too narrow. Too narrow to fit securely in a standard cup-holder (it flies into the wheel-well if the driving gets at all ... frisky), and so top-heavy that the slightest nudge knocks it over. Quite literally, it is impossible to stand it on even a short-cropped carpet: it just falls over. Compounding the problem is the handle, which is too wide even for my enormous hands; it helps to destabilize things. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bubba Keg 20 Oz Travel Mug I've owned three Bubba Kegs over the years, and they are absolutely top-notch. The 34-ounce size, when filled with ice in the morning, still has ice left in the evening. The 20-ounce size holds the cold almost as well. I've not tried then with hot beverages, but see no reason they would not perform as well. Both fit the standard auto cup holder, although the larger one does tend to be a little top-heavy. And they are extremely durable. You can spend several times as much on a fancy stainless steel mug and get results nowhere near as good. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Bubba Keg 20 Oz Travel Mug The mug itself is ok as far as keeping drinks hot.The travel top is secure and it has a nice size capacity. However the base is SO narrow it doesn't fit very well in standard cup holders without a lot of play. In a smaller vehicle (with floor shifter)you could not use the shifter without removing it from the cup-holder first. In our full sized car we have to lift the top of the console to get it to seat in the cup holder without tipping due to the wide mouth. If you stand it in the sink or counter the slightest move tips it over. They really need to redesign this product. |
