I looked at other brands when I was searching for something my 8 year old can take to school and there were a lot of other expensive options. Im glad I got this thermos....it works just fine and my son can open it himself at lunch yet it doesn't spill. It is cheap enough to put anything into it and it stays warm.

Your husband won't want it for his piping hot coffee but for a can of soup, some reheated meatloaf, some leftover spaghetti and meatballs for an 8 year old - this works just fine. By the time I pack lunch (7 am) and when he eats lunch (noon) the stuff inside has cooled just enough to be perfect for him to eat. Microwave whatever it is so its nice and hot. I will also run the entire jug under hot water first to get it primed up with some heat. Place your food in, screw on the cap and its fine for 4 or 5 hours. Its cheap enough to use for anything. Perfect for sending your kid to school with some soup. It's just the right size for a nice warm cup of soup, and my kid loves soup for lunch. It's standard kid's thermos material, and has a low profile for a lunchbox.

I bought this for my 4yr old son's lunch box. Both of us were tired of making/eating sandwiches every day so bought this to expand his food options. The food stays warm and is a perfect size for small children. I have sent him to school with mac & cheese, soups, and rice/chicken and he said all were nice and warm at lunch. Only downside is the thermos can't go in the microwave so you need to heat or reheat the meal in another vessel before putting in thermos. Also, make sure you show your kids how to open the thermos on a table so the contents don't spill out!
