I bought this so I could steam broccoli (and other veggies) at work.
It is very compact and works well.
My first bowl full of broccoli was a little limp because I followed the direction exactly and nuking it for 3 minutes was too long with my microwave.
My second bowl was nuked at 2:30 seconds and was hot and crunchy!
You may have to play with the times to find the sweet spot for your microwave but it is worth it.

It also cleans up easily and collapses back to it's small size with no hassle.

Now it's time to start experimenting with other foods I can steam.

Small in stature, this little Aladdin steamer is absolutely perfect for steamed vegetables for two! Easy to use, easy to clean, and it's fold-down structure takes up a small amount of space to store. I used it last night for some steamed fresh brocolli for my husband and I, and it worked perfectly. I'd considered buying an electric steamer because we do eat a lot of steamed vegeteables, but it was just one more appliance taking up space on my counter or in my cabinets. I'm glad I waited. I'm sure this little steamer is perfect for lunches as it is touted, but I consider it an even better tool for steaming vegetables for two quickly and effortlessly. I'll also be using it to steam veggies for lunch for my grandson, which moms and grandparents of little ones might consider. This is a very cute little steamer, and it works well, too, steaming vegetables neatly in the microwave. It's good for heating up leftovers, as well. Since it's compact and can be pushed flat, it's nice for carrying your lunch or heating things in a dorm room.

It is not without problems. First, the lid must be removed by twisting, like the lid of a jar. The natural way to do this is to put your hand over the lid, just as you would a jar. The women in our household can't reach across the lid properly to do this.

There is a protrusion from the lid which you can push to twist the lid off. This doesn't work as well as twisting from the top, but will work if you don't close it tightly and if you can get a good grip on the bowl. Unfortunately, when you use the steamer in the microwave, both bowl and lid get very hot, making the whole grasping and twisting process more difficult.
