I have been looking for a leak-proof water bottle for my son to take to school in his lunchbox. Last year we used a Klean Kanteen bottle, but despite my satisfaction with the stainless steel construction, it leaked frequently (as their website indicated it would). I first read about the Contigo Autoseal cup on a blog that raved about it being leak-proof and the reviews on Amazon.com were also almost entirely positive. Given the excellent reviews and the "100% leak-proof" claim, I tried it. Unfortunately, my son came home with a wet backpack 2 days in a row. There is no doubt that the cup does not leak if you knock it over briefly, but it cannot be left on its side in a lunch box without leaking. So I resume my hunt for a leak-proof, reusable, stainless steel-constructed cup with the goal of avoiding 13 years of 180 plastic water bottles (times 3 kids) being added to our environment...

Black mold grew in the lid, and is impossible to get out!!
It went into my daughters mouth, and horrified I carefully inspected and was disgusted.
Soaked in bleach 3 times for overnight, still did not come out all of the way!!

Also we have the other contigo plastic cups as well,
we lost one of the rubber sealing gaskets,
and I called the company to get another one....they don't sell that small rubber piece.

Which means the cup is now USELESS!!!!
why don't they sell the replacement rubber seal?
I like the concept, but the risk of mold or losing a small rubber seal is to high for this price !!!!!!

this is by far the best kids water bottle i have tried. My daughters love them, 4.8 and 2.8. the older one learned how to use it in no time, the younger took some more time, but eventually mastered using it.. it does not leak at all and the stainless steel is double walled, so it keeps water cool for a longer time. love them. great invention!! :)
