These little bottles are perfect. With all the talk about BPA and plastics leeching into our foods, I am replacing everything with glass. The 9 oz. size is just right if you are paying attention to portion control. I use these for my green tea, etc. They also have come in very handy for my elderly mother. She no longer eats enough to sustain herself, so we rely on Ensure Plus for her calories. I fill 4 bottles a day with Ensure so I know what she is consuming and if she is getting enough calories. The bottles are easy for her to open, easy to grip and never slippery. I love the silicone sleeves on these bottles; They have been dropped on ceramic tile and are not damaged in any way. I am picking up more to add to our collection. If you are looking for glass bottles, give these a try. While they are a bit expensive, they are worth it. Easy to clean, durable and easy to handle.

It's not lightweight like plastic or metal; but then again, it's glass and not made in China. Not a bad tradeoff for no chemical or metallic aftertaste. The beverage taste is unaffected by the glass bottle. Only the cap is plastic, but the whole bottle and its components are independently tested to be free of BPA, phthalates, PVC, polycarbonates, lead and latex, according to the manufacturer. Components are made in France (bottle), United States (silicone sleeve) and Poland (cap).

2 reasons for the lower rating with the smaller LifeFactory bottles:
1) The larger versions (which are great) have a gasket that prevents leaking so that you can lay the bottles in any direction. These 9oz ones do not and hence leak a little.
2) Their website now clearly lists out the details in the FAQ section and claims that "Beginning in mid-2011, all Lifefactory components will be manufactured in the U.S. and Europe. However, the inventory on Chinese made components (e.g., flat caps, cap/ring/stopper set) will be utilized until out of stock.". I unfortunately got a blue bottle that said the cap and sleeve were made in China. So, be warned that you may get one such. I would have preferred to wait until such inventory was 'purged'.
