Virtually unbreakable, this lightweight, vacuum-insulated thermos travels to work or the beach or other recreation spot. On arrival, and for hours afterward, coffee, tea, or soup will still be hot. Or lemonade, pasta salad, or a sports drink will still be chilled. It transports baby food, too. Compact (3-1/2 inches in diameter by 6-1/2 inches high) and handsome, the thermos has a satin-finish exterior and tough, nonslip, black plastic top, bottom, and L-shaped handle. Fine threading ensures the twist top seals tightly. A full-diameter mouth provides handy access to foods, and the smooth interior cleans with sponge or cloth. Summary: Love this mug 2008-10-25
Comment: We have had two of these for about 10 years and love them.
The only reason we are getting a new one now is that one of our beloved mugs took the brunt of a couple of arguments - to Nissan's credit this mug can become misshapen and still not crack the plastic rim. However the fatal blow, which did finally crack the plastic rim, was directed at the cat who had just puked in my husband's shoes.
It keeps ice cubes intact for ~8 hours (with cold liquid) without any lid at all. And it keeps my coffee warm for hours with the sippy lid.
I really like that it has a travel top too - I can just throw the mug in my backpack and not worry about spills.
Can't wait till the new one arrives!

Comment: Excellent cup, keeps anything hot for hours. I still have the original version of this cup its 20 years old and I still use it. This is by far the best cup made.

Summary: Best mug ever 2006-09-16
Comment: AARRRGH! I lost my Nissin mug after thirteen years of perfect service. Dents and dings new O-ring and all, it's gone. I wish I had a picture of it to show the abuse that it withstood, and it kept coffee warm for hours. Now I have to get a new one. For those of us that like things to serve their purpose and don't care about fancy flashy lights and gizmos, this is the best mug ever.

Comment: After getting fed up with cheap travel mugs (leaky tops, limited ability to keep coffee hot), I splurged on the Nissan mug several years ago. Hundreds and hundreds of commutes later, I can't say enough good things about it. The only days I'm disappointed are the ones I forget my Nissan mug at work and need to make due with a lesser mug. It is true that the base does not fit in most car drink-holders; not a problem for me, but could be a deal-breaker for some. Also, I don't use the sipper lid, so I can't speak for that. But if you're looking for a rugged, leak-proof container to transport your 15.9 oz of java and keep it hot for hours, you won't do much better than this item.
