Not quite so long if it's tipped on it's side so the plastic stopper is in contact with the liquid. The open/close mechanism is simple and easy to operate one-handed, but you need to have a flat surface to pour into a cup - it doesn't work well to drink from. It'll close itself when you screw the cap/cup back on. Great product, sturdy, with a snap-on-off carry sling not shown in the picture. 16 of 16 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Zojirushi Tuff Sports Stainless Steel Vacuum Bottle (Kitchen) This is the best insulated drink container (thermos) on the market! Very rugged and stylish, this container from Zojirushi, is almost half the size of my old, bulky, glass-lined thermos and it is much more durable. It also has comparable heat retention (at least 8 hours, but my coffee never lasts that long). If heat retention is your only priority, you might be better served with a conventional, cheaper, fragile, glass-lined model. Karsch (CT, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Zojirushi Tuff Sports Stainless Steel Vacuum Bottle (Kitchen) The bottle performed well, but very much to my dismay I discovered that a bunch of the teflon coating had flaked off inside the bottle and I must have ingested it without noticing. I am particularly dismayed, because when I first bought the bottle and discovered that it had a teflon coating, I called US Zojirushi customer service and I was assured that the coating was safe, that it would not disintegrate due to the heated beverages (black and green teas). This obviously is not the case. For good health, I am now scouring the net for a portable glass-lined thermos bottle - very hard to find. The stainless steel one I had before (with a stainless liner) corroded inside. |
